I am Genice, founder of Street Hype dance classes for kids of all ages in the Birmingham area since 2008. My dance experience stems over 32 years as a trained and competitive dancer in the world of Disco/Freestyle dance, Contemporary and Ballet. In 1998 i qualified at a professional level in Street Dance / Hip hop with the National Association of Teachers of Dance (NATD), where shortly after I went on to set up La Danse Studio where my dancers competed across the UK in Freestyle and Street dance.
I joined Street Dance International (SDI) at that time and trained dancers at all levels from Beginners to Championship to compete at SDI competitions held across the UK.
Since 2008, I specialised solely in Street dance and started as a promoter and committee member with Street Dance International, thus running my own Championship events and still largely successful to date, twice yearly for the Midlands and surrounding area.
In 2016, I decided to break from Street Hype in Birmingham and render the Dance school to my longest standing, student, competitor and professional Charlene Henry, who to date runs the classes successfully of high standard. 2017, Street Hype Walsall was started and now in 2021 at the easing of Covid lockdown Street Hype Sandwell will be starting in June, run by myself.
I am proud to say i have experienced years of adjudicating, judging Freestyle and Street Dance competitions in England, Scotland and Ireland, and was given the opportunity to teach workshops in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
